On September 28, 2001, Hammer took the plunge on one of the best performance cars available at the time, and probably for quite some time. General Motors had completely re-vamped its F-Body (Camaro / Firebird) line in 1993, only to again be refined in 1998 with sleeker lines and arguably the best engine ever produced - The LS1 V-8. While both the Camaro Z28 and the Pontiac TransAm have many supporters, some feel the Camaro is a bit more sedate, particularly when compared to the aggressive styling of the WS6 Ram-Air TransAm. Its difficult to maintain a low profile in a muscle car with over 300 horsepower, especially one bearing the coveted Super Sport moniker. But most would agree, the Light Pewter Metallic finish adds a welcome touch of class the Chevrolet Camaro SS.
